November 30, 2015 By Tyler A. Gray, CFP®, CKA®, AIF®

‘Tis the season for…just about everything!

There’s Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and today is #GivingTuesday.

At SageOak, we think giving is an important part of your financial life.

With that in mind, below are 7 Christian ministries that have a God-glorifying mission, practice good financial stewardship, and are worthy of your support this holiday season and beyond!

Below each ministry’s name is a short video about the ministry and/or one of the ministry’s programs.

After reading through the list and watching some of the videos, I’m sure you’ll agree that the age old saying, “It’s more blessed to give than to receive,” certainly holds true with these organizations!

Do your givin’ while your livin’

If you’re like me, it’s easy to get so wrapped up in the food, fun, and fellowship of the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons that we sometimes forget it’s not about us.

One easy way to help remind ourselves of that simple truth is to give some of our money away to a Kingdom-minded cause like the ones listed above.

What’s the motivation though? Why should we consider giving at all?

The Apostle Paul helps us answer these questions in 2 Corinthians 8:9…

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

In this verse, the Apostle Paul encourages the first-century Corinthian church to give to some of the other churches in need at that time. In doing so, he uses what Jesus did for them on the Cross as the motivation for why they should give.

In other words, since true wealth is found in treasuring Christ above all else, Christians can feel free to “do your givin’ while you’re livin’ so you’re knowin’ where it’s goin’!”

‘Tis the season after all…
